Overall, we found our break at Pine Cliffs to be most enjoyable. This was not our first time to go there and we would hope to return again in the future.
The resort has a good range of facilites, with many restaurant offerings and all the staff were very helpful at all times.
In addition, the service provided by Design
Holidays from the initial enquiry until the end of the holiday was excellent throughout.

Adult family of 4 review

The resort was perfect for my family with golf course and bicycle and car hire on site. Restaurant service was very slow especially in the evenings. Weve stayed in many 5 star resorts and the spa was one of the most expensive and the fish restaurant cost us 500 for 4 adults with minimal alcohol which included fresh line caught fish.
That said the residences were perfect for us and we ate breakfast on our patio and lunch in the resort. We had dinner once in villa moura on the marina which was nice and went to albufeira which wed not been to before but is somewhere for the young to party and not for adults looking for a nice dinner venue.
Beach was amazing and beach restaurant fantastic albeit hot at this time of year. Resort has a great lift down to the beach but the walk back if have accessibility issues likely to be a bit much e.g. my elder mum who uses a stick would not have been able to manage it.
Every one of the family would return again.

A fantastic holiday from start to finish. Pine Cliffs is a great resort for a relaxing holiday. The accommodation and food are both first class and the facilities at the resort are second to none. Design Holidays as usual were excellent to deal with.

I love pine cliffs, accommodation fab, surroundings fab! The one thing I would say is the choice of food for kids is not ideal with the same menu in all the restaurants except the buffet. Even if they varied it with 2 menus, but one is pretty poor.
Also the food has increased considerably in price meaning that even with half board it can be very expensive.
I still love it, but these are 2 points that they need to look at

Fantastic accommodation, in a fantastic setting.

Apartments were top notch, the grounds were beautifully kept and had great facilities.
Food at times was excellent, but variety was needed, and kids menu pretty average. I am guessing this maybe due to main hotel still being shut.
Overall a great holiday and would probably return!

Pne Cliffs - Golf Residences

Overall the resort is still excellent and offers exactly what we want. The resort has, however, become a victim of its own success. The main area of focus for me is that the infrastructure cannot cope with the number of people, ie queuing for breakfast and dinner, and the swimming pools just cannot cope with the volume of people in them. I fear that this will become worse with the addition of a further 70 rooms and families with only one further swimming pool and one additional restaurant. This is the one thing that may eventually stop me coming, as this year, I felt everything was just too busy. I appreciate this is what Sheraton wants in order to maximise revenue, but it is now making the customer experience diminish.
Other items on which to concentrate for the resort - If you have booked a half board package and use the transfer value in another restaurant, then that restaurant should be aware of this though their central database, TV through the internet is not stable enough if you want to watch TV, cleaning of the rooms need to be more thorough and the road train needs an overhaul in terms of timetable and please give it a suspension!

Great Family Summer Holiday Location

We visit Pine Cliffs every year in the Summer in a similar time window - late June/early July. It's a large resort with lots of space so despite the volume of accommodation they offer, you rarely feel "hemmed in". Lots for the adults & kids to do including tennis, football, crazy golf, golf and plenty swimming pools to choose from. There's a kids club too for the younger ones but ours is 8 now and we just don't feel the need to use it as there are plenty other families we've met at the resort that visit at the same time every year and the kids just get on with it. Staff are fantastic - very friendly and really want you to enjoy your stay. Food is good enough but would not call it 5 star! We usually get the half board upgrade deal via Design Holidays - not sure I'd want to pay the resort prices for that standard of food. What would I ask for to make it better? Improved food quality, free Wi-fi throughout the resort as it's only available really in reception unless you pay & maybe an odd evening of entertainment (but would not want that every night as I like the relaxed atmosphere in the evenings). Other than that, it ticks all the boxes !

Absolutely beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped apartment, maintained to very high standard.
The grounds were lovely, and service is generally excellent.
It's a very large resort though, and I'd be less keen on the environment if all accommodation was fully occupied.

Great location for family holiday with younger children.

Our 3rd visit to this location and we love it. We wait for the free upgrade to half board which makes it reasonable value for money but be warned, without this the restaurants are VERY expensive (but then maybe that is to be expected in a 5* resort?). It's a large complex that gives a good feeling of space and always plenty of beds to lie by the pool or on the beach (trek to beach is not for the faint-hearted though and not buggy friendly!). Love being able to replenish towels whenever needed at any of the poolsides. Apartments are lovely - spacious and well appointed. Would be nice get wi-fi access as part of the package rather than paying separately. Good facilities for kids and adults alike - fabulous play park with pirate ships to run around in, crazy golf, 9-hole golf course, driving range, tennis academy, football pitch, good gym and there is one heated pool which is great for the very young ones that chill if in the cold pool too long - plenty of other pools too. Not sure I'd say the restaurants are 5* quality but they are all good enough but vary between 3* and 4* in my opinion.

Great resort but some of the service in restaurants was chaotic.

Fourth trip to Pine Cliffs Residences. Great resort, smartly kept as ever. Residences are beautifully fitted-out.
A bit of a walk to the excellent beach but it helps burn off the lovely buffet breakfast.
Only criticism is that the usual very high standard of service in the resturants had slipped. Breakfast team were good but in the evenings we received slow and haphazard service and it took ages to get a cocktail near the pool in the afternoon - can only think it was the team "settling in" as the hotel part had only reopened a couple of weeks previously. The non-restaurant staff were all good.
Porto Pirata was good but the Junior Club has moved the centre of the resort to the very far end of the resort to make way for the new building. This means that it will be a bit of a logistical nightmare if you have boys at both clubs. Kids clubs prices have shot up and the discounts available are much lower.

5th time to the Pine Cliffs for October half term break. we have had good week -despite poor weather. Weather has always been good at this time of year so has come as a bit of a suprise ths year. Apartments are excellent - spacious and good kitchen facilities. Still seem pretty up to date even though resort is relatively mature now.Choice of tv programmes is poor. no BBC1 and little sport selection.
Only thing I think could be improved is selection of restaurants at this time of year. corda cafe isn't that good, piri piri is excellent but closed two days a week. it would be good if there was another alternative as not keen on buffet restaurants. a family Italian restaurant would be good!

Great place. Excellent beach, pools, restaurants.
Apartments show no signs of "tiring". Only would say they should have better tv channel selection - but the weather was fab so it didn't matter.
Staff are really kind - unprompted bringing antiseptic wipe and plaster for a grazed knee, impromptu birthday cake for my wife.
Only marked down as it is pricey, but it is very good - hence our third visit.

Beautiful resort and accommodation just need more staff when this busy as service suffers

Pine cliffs is a stunning resort with lots to do for the family from swimming to golf to biking or spending time by the sea .
It is very busy round the pool areas and even though beds available the volume of people in the water is too much and suggest other pools or removing so many inflatables as it would be lovely to actually swim not dodge objects continuously .
Service has taken a step backwards not enough staff the ones they have work hard but should be more customer service orientated you can tell those with experience and those that have had little training . Rooms though excellent as is daily cleaning and attention to gardens .
Restaurants expensive for the service level and can find better and more memorable experiences outside the resort . We would come back but think other options offer better value for money and service needs to step up again.
