Two outdoor pools, one indoor. One pool is located by the cocktail bar, and hence has a more lively atmosphere, there is a second, quieter poolside area for those who wish to read and tan.

DINING at DOME NORUZ

The Zeen Restaurant is Dome Noruz’ rich and exciting dining experience. Head Chef, Dokis Bekris, fuses local with a more worldly, global feel. Some might say – ‘glocal’ – we say, delicious! Be sure to visit this restaurant for an explosion of the senses. The restaurant serves seabass, king crab, local grouper with grapes, while featuring dishes from a traditionally Greek palate – local Cretan Salad, ‘Dakos’ is served up pride of place, and rightly so.

The Raw Bar is a beachside venue that offers decedent, adventurous bar snacks, such as salmon tartare tacos with garlic salsa verde cream, and oysters with preserved kritamo (samphire), with an oxymeli dressing to accompany your dishes (wine, honey, vinegar and orange).

History – Crete’s Former Capital

The town and municipality of Chania were once the historic capital city of the island. The town is now the second largest of Crete, and enjoys the same pleasant, year ’round climate boasted around the warm seas of Greece.

While Chania may no longer be the official capital of Crete, the stunning town and surrounding municipality is a sublime alternative holiday destination, and its dedicated airport takes luxury seeking travellers away from the Eastern, more tourist centric, side of the island. Heading west, with secluded, sandy beaches, bay after bay of crystal waters and a calmer tide, the Chania coasts of Crete encapsulate Greek tradition and the Cretan atmosphere. The rich history of this ancient town was first recorded in the Minoan Ages, while many architectural nods to Turkey and Venice can be seen through the stunning remnants of the Ottoman and Orthodox Rules. Being an Island, and a large one at that, Chania’s Crete was subject to many wars and occupations over the years, including in recent times, the Second World War’s painful and tragic infliction –  The Battle of Crete – in 1941. The Chania Harbour and lighthouse is a truly wonderful place to visit. Local to the Dome Noruz Resort, the beauty of this amazing spot needs to be seen to be believed, as many say the place looks different to the eye upon each visit. Depending on the time of day, the sunlight produces a different looking scene, creating a wonderfully different perspective of light, reflection and colour from the off-white buildings and glimmering movement of the harbour’s boats, bustle and the beautiful Aegean sea.

Naval Museum (Maritime Museum) – it delivers a superb introduction to the History of Crete and is by no means only for maritime mavens, you will learn more here in half an hour than most could teach you, about the events that filled Crete’s moving past.

Chania, Crete – The Warmer Climate Welcomes You

The island of Crete is Greece’s largest, with a culture and history spanning over many thousands of years. The landscape is full to bursting with monuments and archaeological sites to explore all over, with the western part of the island offering many local traditions and sights typically associated as being, Cretan – preserving the culture in everything from clothing to beards, music to food.

The weather is always guaranteed. During the period between April and October, clear-sky weather is almost an everyday feature. The atmosphere is always warm, and the west of the island can even experience heat waves brought in from the Libyan winds as early as March or April, each year. Fierce heat waves (temperatures above 38 °C) are conversely, not very common, with the prevailing Etesian wind, also known as ‘Meltemia’, preventing the climate from being too uncomfortably warm.

Chania is a short taxi ride at only 2.5 miles of Domes Noruz, Chania.

Chania International Airport (CHX), is 20 minutes away from Domes Noruz, Chania.

BY BUS

There are very few buses from the airport. Taxis are available to the town and to the hotel (9km away) or to nearby beaches and places of interest.

There is a bus service to the port that takes the Ferry to Athens.
