The crystal clear waters of the south west end of Sardinia and the white beach of the Forte Village Resort in Santa Margherita di Pula is the starting point of Challenge Forte Village. Here participants will go through the first transition in the middle of a 47 hectares of gardens, surrounded by 15,000 trees and around 2 million plants, from Aloe Vera to Yucca, Bougainvillea, Eucalyptus, Palms and Hibiscus.

Once on the bike, the course will gently climb over Domus De Maria to enjoy a breathtaking downhill until Teulada before heading along the spectacular costal road back to T2. The final run will head along the coast before finishing in the heart of Forte Village.

Sardinia Hosts the 2015 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships

Design Holidays has some more news for all you triathlon lovers out there planning on visiting Sardinia, Italy. The International Triathlon Union (ITU) has announced that the ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships in 2015 willed now be hosted in Sardinia as well.

The town of Orosei in Sardinia, which has already hosted this year’s European Cross Triathlon Championships, will be the stage for the 2015 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships. However it will be the first time the World Championships has been held in Sardinia.

The 2015 ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships will involve a 1.5km swim, 30km bike that traversed across sandy terrain followed by a 10km cross country run. This event is a multisport discipline which has grown immensely in the last few years. The 2015 event will be coordinated in association with TNatura.

“Sardinia offers up both spectacular views and a challenging course for the Cross Triathlon World Championships,” said Marisol Casado, President of the ITU.

Last year’s ITU Cross Triathlon World Championships took place in Zittau, Germany where Kathrin Müller (Germany) and Rubén Ruzafa (Spain) became the new Cross Triathlon World Champions.

Exact dates for all of the World Championship races are yet to be confirmed but the event will potentially take place between May 30th and May 31^st 2015.
